Introduction National security is a priority for the economic growth and development of any nation and according to Nwanegbo and Odigbo (2013), the security of a nation is the pillar upon which every meaningful development can be achieved and sustained. Nigeria in the past 2 decades has witnessed an unprecedented series of agitations in the forms of kidnappings, armed robberies, bombings, religious and tribal insurgencies and carnages of all forms and magnitudes. Groups that have publicly taken credit for most of these recurring activities are, a group of Islamic militants called ‘Boko Haram’, interpreted to mean “Western education is evil” and some herdsmen supposedly from the Fulani tribe. I can't recollect quite vividly how our paths crossed; however, I do recall that when we met –electronically, we had one thing in common –writing. She loved to write on technology while I, on governance and public affairs. Although my commentaries were often published on Facebook, I soon became a regular visitor to LinkedIn where her tech articles frequently surfaced. Of course, I also frequented LinkedIn because of the astonishing networking opportunities that the platform affords young professionals and the visibility that the platform provides for one’s ideas.  Anyways, her writings continued to interest me and I could expect to read a piece or two from her whenever I logged into LinkedIn.
